PlantSphere Standard Extension for 3.3" Pots
We built these because we were sick of up-potting.
If you start tomatoes indoors, you know the problem. Your seedlings are outgrowing their 3.3" pots, but it is too early to put them outside. So you spend an afternoon moving them one by one into bigger containers — new pots, new soil, new tray layout. Half of them get transplant shock. A week of growth, gone.
We thought: what if the pot just got taller?
PlantSphere Standard Extensions snap directly onto your Bootstrap Farmer 3.3" pots and add 2 inches of growing depth. No new trays. No new pots. No transplanting. Your seedlings stay exactly where they are — you just give their roots more room to grow.
How It Works
Your tomato seedling is growing in a Bootstrap Farmer 3.3" pot. The roots are hitting the bottom, the stem is getting leggy. Instead of pulling it out and disturbing the roots, you place a PlantSphere extension on top. Add soil. Done. The roots grow up into the new space, the stem gets buried deeper — which tomatoes love — and you did not lose a single day to recovery.
This is our go-to extension. Two inches is enough to buy your seedlings another couple of weeks indoors, which can make the difference between a scraggly transplant and a stocky, well-rooted plant that takes off the moment it hits the garden.

A Note About Tray Inserts
While you can use the extensions without them, we strongly recommend using Bootstrap Farmer 1020 tray inserts. Once you add an extension and soil, the pots become top-heavy — and the moment you pick up the tray to move it, they will topple. The inserts hold 18 pots snugly in place so you can move your trays around without losing plants.
Every extension is 3D printed in Toronto from food-grade PETG — the same material used in food containers. They are tough, reusable season after season, and safe for everything you grow.
