What are pot extensions?
Pot extensions are 3D printed rings that snap onto the top of Bootstrap Farmer 3.3" pots, adding about 2 inches of growing depth. Instead of transplanting seedlings into bigger pots, you just add an extension and more soil.
What pots do they fit?
Our Standard Extensions fit Bootstrap Farmer 3.3" (83mm) square pots. They are designed specifically for this size.
Are they food-safe?
Yes. Every extension is printed from food-grade PETG — the same material used in food containers and water bottles.
Can I reuse them?
Absolutely. Clean them at the end of the season and reuse them year after year. PETG is tough and durable.
Do I need tray inserts?
We strongly recommend using Bootstrap Farmer 1020 tray inserts. Once you add an extension and soil, pots become top-heavy. The inserts hold 18 pots snugly so you can move trays without plants tipping over.
How many do I need?
- 9-Pack: Half a tray insert
- 18-Pack: One full 1020 tray insert (most popular)
- 36-Pack: Two full trays
- 72-Pack: Four full trays

How long does shipping take?
Orders ship within 1–3 business days. Delivery takes 2–4 days in Ontario, 4–8 days elsewhere in Canada, and 7–14 days to the US.
What is your return policy?
We accept returns of unused items within 30 days. Damaged or defective items are replaced free of charge. See our Return Policy for details.
Do you sell pots and trays?
No. We sell extensions only. Pots, trays, inserts, and other items shown in photos are for demonstration purposes. You can purchase Bootstrap Farmer pots and trays directly from bootstrapfarmer.com.
